Since October 1998, Snowy Hydro SouthCare has been the primary provider of Aero-Medical and Rescue Helicopter services to people in South-Eastern NSW. Since that time, the Rescue Helicopter has completed over 5,500 missions.
Last year the Rotary Club of Hall donated $50,000 to SouthCare and on Tuesday evening we were treated to an excellent presentation by Snowy Hydro SouthCare CEO, Chris Kimball, whom many will remember from his 10 years on ABC666.
Chris shared his personal journey with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Chris received a stem cell transplant from his brother and spent 117 days in an isolation bubble. It was during this time in Westmead Hospital that Chris watched the never ending helicopter traffic to the hospital and was inspired to become more involved in the SouthCare service.
“For me, working with SouthCare is a great privilege,” he stated.
Unlike similar Aero-Medical services, Southcare have no quiet periods. SouthCare fly in and out of the Snowy Mountains in Winter and the Coast in Summer.
