This month our Community Director, Roger Powell, attended an awards function at Wodonga TAFE where, coincidently, the guest speaker was Lincoln Budge from Yakandanda.
Lincoln was the recipient of a donation of $4,000 made by the club last year for sporting wheelchairs for disabled basketball athletes. The donation was presented at the Capital Region Farmers Market to Gum Tree Pies from Yakandanda, who had sought support for Lincoln.
Lincoln’s story, which he told at the awards night, is an amazing tribute to his strength of character.
Lincoln grew up in country Victoria and always challenged life. Like many young men, he was a risk taker. Unfortunately, on the weekend of his 22nd birthday, he was in a serious car accident that left him a paraplegic.
Whilst in rehab, he made the decision to use every muscle that still worked in order to live life to its maximum potential and make a life full of fun and new experiences.
Since the accident, Lincoln has exceeded his early expectations of life in a wheelchair and helped to improve the lives of all who meet him.
The Rotary Club of Hall aim to provide support, not only to the local area but also in the in the areas our Farmers Market stallholders come from.
