Continued support for Newborn Intensive Care Foundation

On the 27th February, we were visited by Peter Cursley who shared his personal journey and gave us a heartfelt presentation on his foundation. In thanking him, the Community Service team made a small donation toward the foundation's ongoing work.

Club members may recall the Community Service project we did with Peter in 2012.

Future of Vocational Awards

Preliminary discussions have been held with the Director of Trade Skills and Vocational Training at CIT with a view to providing opportunities to students in need of a helping hand to complete their respective training. There are likely to be opportunities for the hard trades (building, electrical, mechanical etc) that are not covered by other support initiatives. Part of the ongoing discussion will include the Catering Awards and connection with the CRFM. The intent is to finalise an MOU with CIT by 30 Jun.

The DG’s CIT Plan

DG Steve has a project to assist individuals commencing trade training at CIT establish themselves with tools and equipment early in their training. Donation from clubs within the district will form a pool from which newly started apprentices can draw funds to purchase tools while waiting for training support to kick in. Once this occurs, the fund is repaid by the individuals. RCH is considering a donation of $2000.
