Bulletin No 17/16-17 (13-2-2017)

Hi reader,

It seems like only the other day I was putting the Bulletin together...

Anyway, it isn't a difficult task. For those who turn up to our meeting tomorrow, I'm on instead of a proper speaker and I'll show the club how the website works and how I put this Bulletin together.

Regards - ED

Market Roster

The Capital Region Farmers Market Roster is on the Club Calendar.

Weekly Reports

Presidents Report

Pres Paul didn't have anything really to report, but he was in a jovial mood having just started yet another job... (So much for retirement!)

Keith was presented with a golden clipboard for his masterful 'Clive' impersonation.

Club Service

Coming Events: We have been invited to a bowling night with the Rotary Club of Jerrabombera on Thursday Feb 23rd. Astute members may have noticed all the details on the club calendar.

Reminder to check out The Club Calendar all upcoming event information should be here!

NB: Your timely RSVP by 6:00pm Sunday is appreciated. Responses after this time cause all organisers logistical difficulties and as such you may be unable to attend.

Community Service

Roger reported that the Community Services Committee has had a meeting last Thursday to review its long list of requests for support. We have made a range of decisions that map out a budget to spend a revised increased allocation briefed verbally to me my President Paul.

We have identified all major community services investments that are commitments to projects in excess of 12 months and based on a horizon of up to 5 years. These have been transferred to Immediate PP John Kenworthy to manage. He has been asked by the Board to identify those projects on his list that deserve priority and have business cases developed for specific investment decisions to be endorsed by the Board. My understanding is that the Club would then be advised of the plans to formally agree to the projects.

Youth and Vocational

There was some discussion about the Rebounders weekend at Tuross Heads (as reported in last week's Bulletin). But the main attraction was our guest speaker Kelsey Drabsch's report on RYLA 2017. (see below)

Stallholder Attendance: Our market is gradually returning to its normal seasonal attendance with some stallholders still on extended absences after a busy year in 2016.

Dec 16 Mid-Year Summer Customer Census - Result: No significant change from Dec 15 count i.e.  8,172 customers (with early/late assessment 2016) compared to 8,186 customers (with similar early/late customer assessment in 2015)

New CRFM App: Take up is approx 500+ customers to date – can be downloaded from the Apple App Store onto your smartphone or tablet by inputting in Search: ‘capitalregionfarmersmarket’ - its free – don’t forget to update this App weekly to get the latest information (i.e. specials and stallholder attendance etc) before you shop at the market each Saturday.

Important! - Show Day preparation – Sat 18 Feb:  Club-wide membership help needed for a much reduced task load:

As many volunteers as possible from 12.00 to 1.30 PM to:
sweep out our sheds ready for the Show Society’s work force  - please bring your blowers and brooms, and relocate our bench tables into Bicentennial Park.

Note: We no longer have to provide early traffic control nor help with the onerous follow-on sheep/alpaca pen assembly task – thank you Adrienne M for negotiating this outcome

Last Weeks Speaker

Kelsey Drabsch Reported on RYLA 2017

Kelsey visited the club again and this time told of her initial hesitation at attending RYLA and then the marvelous impact it had on her life.

She thanked the club for the fantastic opportunities we have given her.
