Bulletin No 16/16-17 (6-2-2017)

Hi reader,

It is a long time since I last put out a Bulletin. In fact the last one I sent out was on October 24th last year! Many thanks Barbara for filling in whilst I was overseas.

For archival purposes I'll make an effort to update the site at some point with some of the news from the pdf Bulletins that went out in my absence. (This does highlight the need for people to put their hands up for training on producing the Bulletin.)

See you all on Tuesday  - ED

Weekly Reports

Presidents Report

I have enjoyed the break and am slowly getting back into gear

Some outstanding issues to work on this week – distribution of minutes for November Board meeting, finalisation of minutes for December Board meeting, the governance documents and reviewing our constitution

RYLA was a great success with a full complement of 36 participants and we had 125 for the dinner. Thanks to all the Rotarians and partners who attended the dinner.

Thanks to Clive and Bill W for another generous donation from Skyville, thanks to Tony T and Barbara. Big thanks to Yvonne for making it a fun week.

Thank you from Nic:

Dear Rotary club of Hall

Thank you so much for sponsoring me to go to RYLA 2017. It was a life changing experience for me and I feel honoured that you chose to sponsor me. Through this week, I’ve gained a large and diverse network of future and current leaders as well as friendships that will last a lifetime. The various leaders that came into run the inspiring sessions will be so influential on my life and what I will do to improve the world. Even if I do not become a ‘leader’ with positional power, I will strive to impact the lesions of good ethical mindset, morals and wisdom that was bestowed on me, and onto my peers. These lessons will stay with me my entire life. To sum it all up, I have loved every precious second of RYLA and I am so appreciative of your support of me.

Thank you,
With love, from Nicholas Zaleski

Next week we have Kelsey coming to talk to the club about her experience. I was so proud of her and the way she represented Hall.

Club Service

Coming Events: We have been invited to a bowling night with the Rotary Club of Jerrabombera on Thursday Feb 23rd. Astute members may have noticed all the details on the club calendar.

Last week's speaker was Sandra Mahlberg who enlightened us all with some great insights into ROMAC. One of last Tuesday's guests also took to Bernie... or was it the other way around!

Reminder to check out The Club Calendar all upcoming event information should be here!

NB: Your timely RSVP by 6:00pm Sunday is appreciated. Responses after this time cause all organisers logistical difficulties and as such you may be unable to attend.

Community Service

John reported that the team were still considering proposals.

Youth and Vocational

A number of activities are currently underway. Marta gave her first report in six of seven weeks and Chris and Janine took our returning youth Exchange Student James and current Exchange Student Marta to the Rebounders weekend at Tuross Heads.

Pictured are the Rebounders with District 9710 Chair John Britton.

CRFM

Peter mentioned that the market was still going. There was some talk about stallholders going off in their mobile homes and some conjecture about possible upstairs downstairs challenges in said mobile homes.

Last Week

Rotary Club of Jerrabombera Australia Day Breakfast

Chris and Janine represented the Rotary Club of Hall at our partner club, the Rotary Club of Jerrabomberra Australia Day Breakfast.

The event was attended by hundreds of locals. Entertainment was provided by their own and hundreds of bacon and egg rolls were sold. The club run this activity each year as a community service. Food is sold just to help cover costs.

Of interest, the club had a membership board to promote the club's activities and three potential new members put their names down as as interested in joining the club.

We thank the Jerra club for waving the Farmer's Market flag on the day and selling more CRFM cook books.
