Bulletin No 24/15-16 (19 December 2015)

Hi reader,

Sorry this Bulletin is a few days late - we have been traveling since Tuesday night and it has been problematic finding time to put this together.

After Rotary on Tuesday night we were straight to bed and up first thing on Wednesday morning to head to Melbourne - and we've been in here ever since. Unfortunately in the rush to pack and get out the door, I left my notes from the last meeting on my desk, so this is Last Bulletin of 2015 is sadly only based on my recollections of the other evening.

Anyway, have an awesome Christmas and New Year break and I hope to see you at Kingsley's in 2016 - Ed

In Melbourne with Gerardas

After Rotary on Tuesday night we headed to Melbourne - and we've been in here ever since.

Lots of food has been eaten and a lot of walking around looking at stuff.

Went to St Kilda beach where we met Ana, an exchange student from Finland hosted by Rotary Club of Woden Daybreak.

Coincidence in St Kilda

Janine bumped into Claudia Schipp on St Kilda beach (who RC Hall sponsored for NYSF in 2014). She has now finished her first year of Uni.

Weekly Reports

Presidents Report (VP Bernie)

VP Bernie reported that President Graeme has now moved permanently to Sydney.

Bernie reported a lot that was discussed at the last Board meeting... (Unfortunately it is Saturday morning as I write this at 0026 and we have just returned from a big feed on Lygon St.) - I have no idea what was said but it will all be in the minutes when they are circulated.

Of importance however, Bernie stated that this was his last night with the club for a while as he is taking 6 months leave. Past Pres. Tony offered a vote of thanks and wished him well on behalf of the club.

No reports of note were given however Liz reminded us that dues are due for the beginning of the year - $135.

Club Service: Vicki (absent)

• SATURDAY 19 DECEMBER - Stallholder's Christmas Party to be held from midday in the German Shepherd Club. Volunteers needed to help set up.

• TUESDAY 22 DECEMBER - 2pm - 6pm Market.

• TUESDAY 5 JANUARY - 6:30pm Kingsley's Train Night

CRFM: Clive sent through this report

Last Saturday’s market was both a record breaking and equalling event with:
·         Our first biannual census recording of over 8,000 patrons, and
·         174 stall sites filled, equalling our highest recording.
Watch out !  Next week’s market could be even better.
Many thanks to the diligent census counting team of:
·         Pres Graeme
·         Janine
·         Gerardus
·         James Coffey (Janine’s son)
·         Suzanne
·         Cynthia
Many thanks to the CRFM committee for their energy, drive and professional commitment for this record achievement and to the wider club membership for their ongoing support throughout the year.

James Coffey - Youth Exchange

James, our Youth Exchange student who is going to Hamburg, Germany in January gave a presentation about his hopes for the exchange and he told us a little of what he planned on presenting to his host club when he is there.

Bernie presented him with some club banners to take and the coveted Australian Youth Exchange blazer.
