Bulletin No 22/15-16 (4 December 2015)

Hi reader,

I was in showing Gerardas around the Blue Mountains with a stop off at Jenolan Caves and unfortunately missed the meeting this week. So this weeks Bulletin is made up from reports emailed to me by our Directors (plus a bit of stuff I added in).

See you all at the Award Night on Monday - Ed

Happenings...

Caught up with Chris Whitlock at the Market last week

I was having a coffee and enjoying the atmosphere listening to Barrenjoey High School Band performance at the Market last Saturday and who should I see there but Chris Whitlock, (sporting the ever popular Ned Kelly beard) with his lovely wife Sonia.

Chris was one of the original ForChefs at the Market and had literally just returned to Canberra after four years away. We had a great chat about his years working in Honolulu making chocolate with a multi award winning 'bean-to-bar' chocolate company.

When he started there four years ago he had no idea what chocolate was about. Chris did everything from picking the cacao to making the finished chocolate bars and by the time he left he was running training classes in chocolate and truffle making.

I found his story of making chocolate fascinating and I suggested he should visit to the club next year and give us a talk about his bean-to-bar experiences.

Anyway, welcome back Chris.

Weekly Reports

Community Service: John

John reminded members and asked for volunteers to assist with Fraser Primary School sausage sizzle for 3.30 pm on Thursday. Liz, Bernie, Bill W, Greg, Dennis and Rob have stepped up for the event.

John also advised that Community had donated $500.00 to each of the Batlow Rotary Club to sponsor a school participation in the First Lego League (a programme to encourage young people to take an interest in science and technology) and the Australasian Centre for Rural and Remote Rural Health. The latter was a 'top up' to the donation of five CRFM recipe books and two $50.00 vouchers from the CRFM for a trivia fundraiser run by employees of the Fed Dept of Agriculture.
