Bulletin No 21/15-16 (26 November 2015)

Hi reader,

Hard to believe next Tuesday is the 1st of December!

There are lots of things happening in the coming weeks, so check your schedule and make room for a few Hall Rotary functions.

As our last meeting was an AGM, Minutes of the meeting will be circulated to all members via email in the usual fashion, therefore this Bulletin is primarily about upcoming events.

Of Note: A Special General Meeting was held after the AGM to discuss the impact of President Graeme's move to Sydney and it was subsequently decided that effective from midnight on December 31, John Kenworthy will step in as President for the remainder of the Rotary year and Dennis Greenwood will take over John's position as Community Director for the same period.

I hope to see you all next Tuesday - Ed

Passing of Bert Vest

Sadly we heard the news of the passing of past member Bert Vest. Bert was active in the early years of the club. He will be well remembered particularly for jokes and many funny stories.

The funeral service will be held tomorrow (Friday 27) at Woden Cemetary. A number of club members will be attending to pay their respects.

Final Youth Exchange Training Weekend before departure

Gerardas, James Coffey and Chris and Janine attended the final Youth Exchange training weekend at Greenhills over the weekend. This was the last time Inbounders and Outbounders will be together.

It was a great opportunity for outgoing students to get tips from our currently hosted kids. Interestingly there are a few kids that will be moving in with families of some of our currently hosted students.

Weekly Reports

International Toast

Having just returned from a fabulous weekend at the 2014-15 District Governors as Sergeants at 2015 RotaryZone Institute, held at Etihad Stadium, VP Bernie proposed the International Toast as a Domestic Toast this week to the Rotary Institute and the Rotary Club of Melbourne.

The weekend event was hosted by the Rotary Club of Melbourne, of which Pam Brown is a member. Bernie caught up with Pam who told him that the club has around 400 members and they meet in groups. Her meeting group is about 100 people of which around 90 turn up each meeting. Their membership fees are $800 pa.
