President: Graeme
President Graeme had news of a personal nature this week. He had intended to send through a report for this week's Bulletin but unfortunately circumstances have kept him a little preoccupied.
Graeme announced to the club that Thursday (yesterday) would be his last day in the army and he intends to take up a role in Sydney (should it be offered). He has proposed that he would like to stay on as President or the Rotary Club of Hall and if the club is happy for him to stay in the role, he will guarantee to be in Canberra for all future Board meetings until the end of this financial year. However he noted that it was unlikely that he would be able to make many Tuesday evening club meetings.
Graeme excused himself from the meeting while the club debated the ramifications of this and considered some alternatives. It was decided that we will give it a go and if it isn't working, the club may decide on an alternate Presidential solution at that time.
Reports
Reports were not called for, however during the fine session, John paid to give the following report:
A reminder of the upcoming Remembrance Day Service on 11 November 2015. Dennis G and Bill P have arrangements under control and will provide meal availability details next Tuesday.
John also provided an update on the status of Hall Primary School.
The Hall Progress Association and Hall Rotary (as an interested party) met with representatives of the ACT Government on 7 October where the ACT offered to enter into a 2 year license to occupy with the Progress Association. This was in response to a submission which suggested removal of the site security patrols, minor maintenance and grounds maintenance becoming occupant’s responsibility and a contribution towards utilities costs as a means of reducing the Government outgoings on the site.
The 2 years is to be considered as a trial period that will allow current occupants to continue their activities and provide time to develop a master plan for the site, including an updated conservation management plan. Any future tenancy will be dependent on coming to mutual agreement on the usage and cost of maintaining the site.
In Vicki's absence, don't miss next weeks presentation from Bill Watson (talking about his O/S Trip to Europe & Sapper Centenary Waterloo Dinner) Partners night.
CRFM
Adrianne announced that next Saturday (that's this Saturday 18th) is Kitchen Day and there will be 83 food bloggers having a reunion at the market.
We would like as many Rotarians there as possible to partner with them and show them around. They will be there from roughly 8:30am till 10:30am.
